Notes:
Don’t be afraid of the many levels of darkness necessary to bring out the sacredness of your existence. The West has created a spectrum of programming to condition us into believing darkness is nefarious or full of various evils. That narrative has caused us to despise the mysteries inherent to our cultures, the mysteries necessary for us to tap into revelations, poetry, the voice of the Creator, and the other instances of obscurity, spiritual enigma, and living in the unknown that our ancestors trusted as corporeal to their existence, their necessary connection to the Creator’s spiritual realm and the implications it bears for those who can stay in touch with it. That very same darkness is what the Creator uses to speak light into our worlds. Base cultures taught us to constantly crave light. Our peoples understand the beauty and richness in metaphorical and literal darkness: being still within it to receive strength, insights from on high, revelations to put into writing for the next season of darkness (think of the Psalms…), and wisdom on how to move and have faith for what’s to come. With such insight comes the quotient of keeping to ourselves what’s come to us in dark seasons.

Western culture tells us that whatever “inspiration” crosses our minds should be “shared” with the rest of the world. Yet the opposite is true: These things we receive in the quiet of our mind and spirit need only be transcribed into our books until an appointed time.
